 Soni village

In olden days, Japanese pampas grass (a.k.a.Susuki) fields were seen in many places in Japan.
People used to growing pampas grass for using that as roof top's material,
but year by year, roof top's material has been changed to better fireproof stuff, such as metal or tile.
Pampas grass fields has been changed to cedar forest and that's rarely seen in Japan so far.
Soni highland is very rare place where you can see extensive field of Japanese pampas grass .
It is pleasant to experience walking through that highland. It reminds visitors that old Japanese country side used to be.
